Reservoirs

For a truly professional approach to placing your natural rock water feature we recommend rock reservoirs. They are simple to install and no open water is shown when they are in place. covering the lid with pebbles acts as a natural filter so no debris can get in. These reservoirs are specifically designed to support the weight of natural rock water features. They can be placed above or below ground and installation is simple

TIPs

1. Size your reservoir according to your water feature size and shape.

600mm tall is maximum for the 650.

900mm tall is maximum for the 1000.

1700mm tall is maximum for the 1800.

2. A liner can also be used as a skirt around the reservoir to increase the catchment area of the water.

3. A ballcock can be added to the reservoir so that you never have to top it up.

TYPICAL INSTALLATION DRAWING FOR A WATER FEATURE

water feature installation drawing

The water simply recirculates from the pump, through the rock and back down into the reservoir to start again. No water supply is required. The lid of the reservoir is designed to take the weight of the rock. the lid has some very small holes to allow the water to flow back into the reservoir.

We do use lids that will rust over time and we do not use galvanized metal lids . All the reservoirs we supply are self supporting and can be used above ground or below. They are specifically designed to carry the weight of water features. The reservoir lid can hold any type of pebbles or stones you choose without the need for an extra mesh which would rust over time. All the lids have an access port for easy removal of pump.

This type of water feature is virtually maintenance free as the stones on top of the lid act as a filter stopping leaves and debris entering the water.

If the reservoir is left on the ground a wall or plants can be used to disguise the reservoir. Naturally the reservoir can be partly buried if required and many people do this to increase the height of there feature. For instance if you choose a water feature that is 300mm tall you can make it appear taller by not burying the reservoir at all. If you choose a wall to go around the reservoir you now have an ideal spot to sit, relax and watch your water feature.

Often people put the water feature in raised bed, this is another way of making the feature look taller as the raised bed may be 400mm or more of the ground and now when you put a water feature in the raised bed it to appears taller.

We always recommend that you put the water feature in a place that can be viewed from inside your home. Even on a dark night with the addition of a light you will be able to enjoy your water feature.
