Calculating Pond Liner Size. We need the maximum length and maximum width allowing for depth and edges.
Total Length = (length of pond +500mm) + (depth x 2)
Total Width = (width of pond + 500mm) + (depth x 2)
SQUARE METERS REQUIRES EQUALS TOTAL LENGTH BY TOTAL WIDTH
Example Liner Calculation
A pond 2.5 meters long and 3.5 meters wide which is 500 mm deep requires 20 square meters of pond liner
Total length = 2.5+0.5+(0.5+0.5) = 4
Total width = 3.5 + 0.5 +(0.5+0.5) = 5
=> Square meters required = 4 x 5 = 20
Cost is then 20 X €9.99 =€199.80---add a stream 6 meter long using 1 meter wide liner for an additional €59.94
Tips :
1. If you have already dug your pond then to get an accurate measurement lay a hose pipe along the longest length and add 500 mm for an overlap and then you have the total length. Repeat this for the width and you have the total width.
2. A 500 mm overlap gives 250 mm overlap at each side.
3. Liner is available in rolls of 25 meters length and widths of 4, 6 and 8 meters. Any excess liner can be used for padding areas where you add stone. We cut the liner to suit your pond
4. Butyl Rubber pond liner can be repaired easily and joined if required. We stock joining kits.
