Calculating Pond Liner Size. We need the maximum length and maximum width allowing for depth and edges.
Total Length = (length of pond) + (twice depth) +500mm overlap
Total Width = (width of pond) + (twice depth) +500mm overlap
SQUARE METERS REQUIRES EQUALS TOTAL LENGTH BY TOTAL WIDTH
Example Liner Calculation
A pond 2.5 meters long and 3.5 meters wide which is 500 mm deep requires 21.35 square meters of pond liner. Here is how we calculated it.
Total length = 2.5 long +0.5 overlap+(0.5 deep +0.5 deep) = 4, closest roll width is 4.27m
Total width = 3.5 wide + 0.5 overlap +(0.5 deep +0.5 deep) = 5
=> Square meters required = 4.27 x 5 = 21.35 square meters
Cost is then 21.35 X €8.49 = €181.26---add a stream 6 meter long using 1 meter wide liner for an additional €50.94
Tips :
1. If you have already dug your pond then to get an accurate measurement lay a hose pipe along the longest length and add 500 mm for an overlap and then you have the total length. Repeat this for the width and you have the total width.
2. A 500 mm overlap gives 250 mm overlap at each side.
3.We cut the liner to suit your pond .
4. Butyl Rubber pond liner can be repaired easily and joined if required. We stock joining kits.
5. We don’t recommend plastic pond liner for permanent ponds or water features.
