PLACEMENT of Standing Stones

Skillful placement of your rock, to replicate a natural scene in your landscape, can deliver a “peace” of the mountains to your home. Typically, groupings or families of 3, 5 or 7 stones, of differing sizes but similar characteristic, form the best natural displays. We can individually select your specimen rocks to create these complimentary clusters.

Frequently, a certain spot within your landscape area will just seem to be begging for a particular placement of one of our special stones. But when placement decisions are less obvious, here is a good general rule:

By deliberately setting the largest circumference of a stone at the ground level, with the smaller end upward, a natural-looking massiveness is emphasized. This results in a half-buried appearance so common in natural settings.

We can mark an approximate “bury line” and a “best side down” on rocks that suggest this type of placement.
